In just two generations, or since Lyndon Johnson entered the White House following the assassination of John F. Kennedy, one common trait among subsequent U.S. Presidents was that they were mired in scandals, be these sex, corruption or bad governance ones, because of ignorance and abuse of power. Kennedy would bring his mistresses to the White House. Johnson had a Jewish American mistress, Matilda Krim, with whom he had an affair with her husband's consent, and ties with a group like him who shaped U.S. policy in the Middle East following the war of 1967. For his part, Richard Nixon was linked to Watergate. Gerald Ford was the first non-elected U.S. President in office, and was substandard at every level. Jimmy Carter was a Pistachio farmer from Georgia who failed miserably in addressing the repercussions of the Iranian Revolution after 1979. Ronald Reagan was a second class actor and lousy president, and was in the early stages of Alzheimer 's disease and then was involved in the Iran-Contra affair. As for George Bush Sr., he was so incompetent that he won the Cold War only to lose the elections to Bill Clinton, the man who is famous for his sex scandals in the White House and beyond. Finally, there was George W. Bush, the ignorant fool, who served as a front for the neocons to rule through him, waging overseas wars that killed more than one million Arabs and Muslims. Today, the 44th President in the White House is Barack Obama, the first African-American President. His problem is that he has no scandals what so ever, be they sex scandals, mismanagement scandals or otherwise. Yet all this does not prevent the Republicans from continuing to try. Recently, a controversy was sparked when a microphone was left on during the South Korea Summit. Obama was thus heard telling the outgoing Russian President Dmitry Medvedev that he would be more flexible in dealing with the contested issues with Russia, such as the missile defense shield, after the U.S. presidential elections this year. Although two weeks have passed since these casual words were uttered, and although we are entering the third week since, I still hear or read every day Republican attacks against the President or skepticism regarding his intentions, starting with the House Speaker John Boehner, who said that what the President said affirmed his suspicions that Obama wants to work behind the Congress's back. Boehner thus said, in a long letter to Obama, that Russia has not abided by its commitments, and that it supports rogue regimes such as Iran, Syria and North Korea. I want to say that these countries and ten others like them, are nothing compared to the U.S. support for Israel, a fascist, racist occupation state that murders and destroys every day, and which is attempting to snatch what is left of the land of Palestine with American weapons and funding. Therefore, the main concern of the U.S. legislators is not a new stance towards Russia, but a new one towards Israel. Thus I read the title “Obama Still Not Fooling Anyone on Israel”, or “Obama's Sign of Madness”, in reference to his economic policies. Indeed, they accuse him of all the sins and mistakes perpetrated by the advocates of Israel in the name of George W. Bush until the United States went bankrupt, and is no longer in control of the world economy. The advocates of Israel refuse to see the midday sun. They continue to thrive for American military dominance around the world that imposes on us in the Middle East an Israeli agenda, but fail to see what has happened to the United States since the terrorist attacks of 11/9/2001 and the ensuing response. Ten years ago, the United States accounted alone for one third of global economic output, but today it accounts for one quarter. Its share is in progressive decline, while China, India, Indonesia and Brazil continue their ascent. The tax cuts for the rich passed by George W. Bush and which are still in place, led to 93% of the income increase seen in 2010 going to the top one percent of Americans, while 99 percent of the U.S. workforce saw their incomes either unchanged, or diminished. Add this to a national debt of about 15 trillion dollars, and a 1.5 trillion dollar annual budget deficit. In the course of a single generation, the United States fell from number one in terms of university graduates to number 16, a decline that was most obvious in math and science education. The United States is no longer the only superpower in the world, and Barack Obama will act on this basis in a second term. This means that Israel will lose the blank check it enjoys from the White House, and so I wait for a second term for Obama and a better Arab-American relationship. [email protected]
