Barack Obama has killed Osama Bin Laden at a time where the Arab intifadas succeeded in terminating the ideas of the al-Qaeda leader and his calls on the Arab and Islamic worlds for “an open war against the infidels and their agents.” Somehow, one can say that Bin Laden had practically died before being killed by the raids of the American helicopters against his residence in the Pakistani city of Abbottabad. The Arab streets that witnessed the popular intifadas have proven - through their slogans, their youths' feet and emails - that the allegations of Bin Laden and his gang of being the spokespersons for the Arabs and Muslims, were mere lies. They [i.e. Bin Laden and his gang] used to spread the slogans of hatred and the calls for death through their televised messages. Al-Qaeda was as much of a stranger to the reality of the young Arabs and Muslims as those regimes that the Arab intifadas were seeking to oust. The liberation slogans, the hatred speeches, and the open war against America and the West were not the slogans of the Arab streets, the demands of which only consisted of restoring freedom and good governance in addition to breaking the oppression of the security apparatuses against the citizens and providing them with a good livelihood in their countries. In other words, they were asking for their right to live at a time where Bin Laden only offered them an open war against the entire world all the way to “martyrdom.” Many naïve youths were lured by this slogan and were thus pushed to death. Furthermore, the [Arab] masses asserted - through their demands - that they are not necessarily against the features of the Western culture. The latter is considered by some radicals' speeches as an intruding culture. Meanwhile, Bin Laden only called on the Arab people for staging a war against this culture and its values considering that it was necessarily against the culture and values of the Arabs and Muslims. The killing of Osama Bin Laden has given the Muslims and the Arabs the opportunity to restore a brighter picture of the image under which Osama Bin Laden wanted to present the Arabs to the world, and to take them back to the caves and caverns. On the other hand, the Arab intifadas opened a wide door in front of the populaces for democracy and openness to the current day and age. In both instances, it is easy to notice the role played by the American President Barack Obama as if he was implementing the slogan that he had stated in his University of Cairo speech two years ago where he called for a new relationship between the United States and the Arab and Islamic worlds. That relationship is reportedly to be based on the respect of democratic values and on ending the stereotypes from both sides. The killing of Osama Bin Laden is not expected to lead to a full and final fall of the sick ideas that he had planted in some minds. This was apparent through some of the reactions to his killing that appeared yesterday. But the sure thing is that the post-Bin Laden Al-Qaeda organization will not be the same as before. This is proven by the fact that Ayman al-Zawahiri, the alleged “man number two” in the organization, has gone bankrupt and has failed to attract the least bit of support among his Egyptian nationals during their intifada. Even the Egyptian Islamic movements, such as the Muslim brotherhood group, have proven that they are more prone to ally with the slogans of the Tahrir square than with those of Tora Bora. Through his campaign to support the call for democracy in the Arab world as an alternative of military invasion, and through his calm intelligence-based plan to kill Osama Bin Laden, Barack Obama has proven that he is [smarter] than his predecessor, George Bush. He has secured the renewal of his term even prior to the launching of his presidential campaign for the 2012 elections. His war against Al-Qaeda went straight to the head. Thus, he completely terminated the malicious use of the similarity between the names Osama and Obama from the part of his Republican opponents who aimed at implying that the current American president will be less keen on fighting terrorism than his predecessor. He has also answered those who were questioning his national allegiance to the extent of questioning his birth place, as this prompted him to reveal his birth certificate in order to prove his birth place.
