The official Iranian campaign to accuse the symbols of the opposition of treason, features a bland revival of the literature of the “American trap” which the Khamenei-Ahmadinejad command wants to turn into one of the weapons of the confrontation with the opposition. Indeed, is there anything worse for the opposition in any country than to be accused of collaboration and high treason? The American weapon in the “earthquake” which the Iranian command thought would never affect it - without us meaning it is an American product since that would be unfair to the rebelling youth in the region –exposes the hypocrisy of which Tehran is also accusing Washington. And just like the permanent Iranian claim saying that all the American administrations solely seek the United States' interests – a claim which is not far from reality – the counter logic of the “arrogant states” trying to transfer the revolution of the Egyptian youth to the credit of the eternal “revolution” in Iran collapsed. In the meantime, while Tehran worked hard to appear to be mobilizing the region in the battle to topple injustice in Egypt and unleash the anger of the youth and the opposition, it mobilized the Iranian deputies in the bloody clash that started on the Iranian street to demand the preparation of the gallows for Mehdi Karroubi and Mir-Hossein Mousavi, and maybe even that of Mohammad Khatami. What US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton simply wanted to say when expressing her disgust toward the clear “hypocrisy” seen in the rhetoric of the “protectors of the revolution” in Iran, is that the Khamenei-Ahmadinejad command is against injustice in Egypt, but is exercising it as a stable policy in the Islamic Republic toward all those opposed to the regime, thus rendering whoever says “no” an agent and a traitor. And who knows? The infidelity accusation is also ready if the confrontation were to heat up. Although he is worthy of praise, Mousavi cautioned about and expressed his conviction that America and Israel are trying to “exploit” the protests in Iran. However, this does not annul a highly frightening reality – which exists in Arab countries – related to the authority's inclination to protect itself with a street opposed to that of the protesters. And instead of seeing the confrontation evolve between the base and the summit, it is a bloody conflict at the level of the base heralding civil war. Tehran can accuse President Barack Obama of opportunism, as he wishes to witness the Tahrir Square revolution repeated on Inqilab Square – he who anticipated the developments and sided with the Egyptian youth, so that he comes out as being a contributor to the history of the region after two full years of failure in achieving any accomplishments at the level of American foreign policy. Khamenei for his part can simply use the accusation of the American double standards and silence toward Israel's crimes against the Palestinian youth and population, although there is more than one Palestine in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and much more than doubts surrounding the concerns of the authority and Hamas over the freedom and blood of the youth! However, neither the Guide nor Mahmoud Ahmadinejad - and not even the religious references in Qom whom the Iranian command is trying to include in the mobilization in the face of the “agent” oppositionists - can convince the university students that 32 years after having toppled the regime of the Shah, the revolution can justify additional injustices and oppression because there is no voice above that of the Guide. The youth will not be convinced about the legitimacy of the eternal battle with the conspiracy, the “arrogance” or even “the wiping of Israel off the map,” as the price for this battle is unemployment, forced submission and economic inflation under the protection of the Revolutionary Guard. Mobilization in Qom may mean - at the beginning of the open confrontation proclaimed by the regime to avoid the “Egyptian cup” - the mobilization of all its energies and wings because “rejectionism” is only allowed abroad. As for the rejectionism of the youth and the opposition, it is prone to cause the heavy flow of blood. If there is one lesson to be drawn from the revolutions of the youth and the countdown that is rocking the region - just like Europe was rocked and its face changed following the collapse of the Berlin wall – then it is the necessity to recognize the failure of inertia which means nothing but death, but also to become aware of the concomitance of bread and freedom in the youth's currency. This is the new ideology following the bankruptcy of all ideologies and in light of the sterility of the method of economic openness which immunized the Egyptian regime for many years through an alliance with the “empires” of businessmen. Although it is clear that the regime in Iran is starting to perish because there are young generations that can no longer tolerate the hijacking of their future by the past of a revolution with which they have nothing to do and slogans that have lost their appeal and whose dupery was exposed, it is also clear that the expectation of a fast death for the regime – the Egyptian way – is a mere illusion that can only harm the revolution of the youth. Iran is not Egypt, Yemen is not Libya and Jordan is not Yemen.
