Consultative Gulf summits often review the outcome of various meetings. Today's summit, however, coincides with the Arabian Gulf facing many Arab and regional developments. Arab uprisings sweep through the region, and certainly these countries cannot be isolated or simply ignore the events should they reached to a GCC member states. This requires swift action by GCC countries to read and analyze in such a way to take necessary steps and responsibilities. Supporting Oman and Bahrain is not an option, but a duty of brotherhood and necessity as we are all in the same boat which is head speared by the security concerns that was exploited by Iran through spying against Kuwait, weapons and people smuggling to Bahrain which was on Tehran list of targeted crisis countries. The intervention of the peninsula shield foiled the conspiracy and put an end for Tehran to have a foothold in the heart of the Gulf region. It is still on the same hostile trend towards the Gulf States. Oman handled wisely the unrest and was able to absorb the shock before it was too late. Yemen, on the other hand, remains a point for many of the authority discrepancies between regime and opposition. This issue is vital for the interest of the Gulf States as they share common borders. Making this situation a domestic Yemeni affair is considered failure of necessary tasks. For these reasons, GCC states moved to draft a solution to approximate views between the disputed parties. If successful, it is a victory for Yemen and the Arab diplomacy in the consecration of reconciliation and to avoid sliding into a serious scenario that may certainly leads to a total chaos and cast security negative consequences on neighboring countries. Events in Egypt, being the locomotive force of the Arabs, is not a matter that does not deserve attention. Visits exchanged between Egyptian and the Gulf countries officials were to help to understand the trends, draw up policies after recent changes and to support them in current circumstances. Perhaps the most fundamental point is to clarify the misunderstood statements made on the restoring ties with Iran in such a timing that raised concerns among Gulf states. Confidence was, however, quickly restored based on the fact that no changes in its commitment towards its nation and particularly the Arabian Gulf. We do not keep distance from other uprisings sweeping across some Arab countries. We interact in a way supportive to people will to decide for their best interests. GCC States have decided its move in such a manner to preserve the unity and security of those States and will certainly not neglect their responsibilities if so requested to contribute to rebuilding confidence and be neutral. The GCC consultative summit, however, will be as important as the main summit being faced with changes overwhelming most of the Arab countries, a situation of concern to everyone.
