Six paramilitary troopers and their driver were killed in an ambush by rebels in India's central state of Chhattisgarh, police said Monday. The team from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) were on patrol, guarding a state-mining company, when it was attacked late Sunday in the southern region of Kirandul. "Dozens of armed Maoists attacked the CISF jeep in the dense forests," district police chief Narendra Khare said. "The rebels hid in the bushes and fired continuously at the vehicle till all seven CISF men were killed," he was quoted as saying by DPA.
