At least 3,000 civilians from the Democratic Republic of the Congo have poured into Uganda in the past two days as fighting intensifies between rebel fighters and Congolese government forces, officials said on Friday according to dpa. Reports from the DR Congo indicate forces loyal to renegade Congolese general Bosco Ntaganda in the eastern sections of the country have refused to give up their arms and fighting has intensified between the sides since late on Thursday. "The influx is up-surging as hundreds of people are still moving across the border. They are being screened to ensure that there arena bad elements moving into our country," Peter Mugisha, a spokesman for the Ugandan Army, told dpa by telephone.
