U.S. stocks closed lower Tuesday, although the major indexes closed off session lows, as the political uncertainty in Greece kept investors on edge. The dollar gained against the euro and the pound, but fell versus the yen. Light sweet crude oil for June delivery fell 93 cents to $97.01 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Gold futures dropped $34.60 to $1,604.50 an ounce. The Dow Jones industrial average declined 76.44, or 0.59 percent, to 12,932.09. The broader Standard & Poor's 500 index dropped 5.86, or 0.43 percent, to 1,363.72. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index fell 11.49, or 0.39 percent, to 2,946.27.
