The Chief of General Staff of Yemeni Armed Forces, Major General Ahmed Ali Al-Ashwal described as a "heinous crime" the kidnapping of Saudi Vice Consul Abdullah Al-Khalidi in the governorate of Aden, South Yemen. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he stressed that those persons who committed this treacherous crime have nothing to do with religion which bans such acts as they kidnapped a dear guest to Yemen and a diplomat providing important services for Yemenis, expressing his optimism about the imminent release of the kidnapped diplomat and his safe return to his family .
