Muslims at Babenki in the vicinity of Bamenda, capital of the English-speaking regions in Cameroon, today performed Friday (Jumaa) prayers at King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Islamic Mosque in Babenki which has been established at the expense of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Imam of the mosque Sheikh Mohammed Abdo Abdulfattah Al-Hazme urged the worshippers while his Jumaa sermon to cooperate with each other. Narrating the story and the idea behind building this mosque, he said it started during performing a surgical operation for two Cameroonian Siamese whose parents embraced Islam following the success of the surgery conducted in Saudi Arabia at the expense of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Upon return to Cameroon, the parents of the Siamese patients convinced a number of people to embrace Islam. Accordingly, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud decided to build a mosque at his expense at their village of Banenki. Among today's worshippers was the Saudi ambassador to Cameron Mahmoud bin Hussein Gattaan and other embassy staff members.
