Jordan's King Abdullah II swore in Wednesday the country's third government in less than a year, in what was seen as a bid to revive the country's reform process, dpa reported. According to the state-run news agency, Petra, the monarch swore in a technocrat government headed by Fayez Tarawneh - a political conservative and regime insider who has previously served as premier. Observers expect the new government - consisting of former ministers and Royal Court officials - to serve for a three-month interim period to pass several key laws paving the way for parliamentary elections later this year. Wednesday's appointments comes in the wake of the surprise resignation of outgoing premier Awn Khasawneh who stepped down last week. In his letter of designation, King Abdullah instructed Tarawneh to revive the country's political reform process.
