A soldier was killed and a French oil expert injured Tuesday in an attack by gunmen suspected to have links to al-Qaeda, dpa quoted Yemeni media as reported. The attack occured in the city of Say'oun in the eastern Yemeni province of Hadramout. Independent news site Mareb Press cited eyewitnesses who said that unknown gunmen attacked a Land Cruiser car belonging to French oil company Total as it headed to Say'oun's airport. A Yemeni soldier was killed in the attack. A security officer and a French oil expert were injured, according to the website. Local media have reported that the attackers were trying to kidnap the Frenchman.
