Presided over by its Speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al al-Shiekh, the Shoura Council took a number of decisions at its ordinary 27th session in Riyadh today. Following the meeting, Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Secretary General of the Shoura Council, said the meeting unanimously approved the accession of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the 19-article Inter-American Convention on Serving Criminal Sentences Abroad as the Kingdom is a permanent observer to the American Countries Organization. The Shoura Council also approved the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of protection and preservation of environment between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Qatar as well as a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of meteorology. The Council approved the 16-article draft agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Korea in the field of peaceful usage of nuclear energy. It also unanimously approved a draft agreement between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Ireland on the evasion of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion on taxes on income. A report on the performance of the Court of Grievances received thorough discussion on the Shoura Council's floor. However, it will be resumed in a future session. Another report on the performance of the Control and General Investigation Bureau will also be discussed in the future.
