The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated today phase I of university cities project to be implemented in a number of regions and governorates of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques also laid the foundation stone for phase II of the project which will cost of SR 81.5 billion. A ceremony marking this event was held at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh, during which the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Anqari delivered a speech in which he said "We are celebrating the inauguration of phase I as well as the laying of foundation stone for 18 university cities and Academy complexes for male and female students in Jazan, Hail, Jouf, Tabuk, Najran, Northern Borders, Baha, Shaqra, Majmaah, Taibah, Qassim, Taif and Kharj; in addition to King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz City for Female Students at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, Female Students City at King Saud University and Female Students City at Umm Al-Qura University, which consist of 161 infrastructure and support projects, 167 colleges for male students, 161 colleges for female students, 11000 housing units for faculty members, 100 housing units for students accommodating 50000 students; in addition to 3800-bed 12 university hospitals in Jazan, Jouf, Hail, Baha, Taif, Taibah, Tabuk and Northern Borders, Najran, Rabigh, Kharj and Qassim.
