The Rector of Umm Al Qura University Dr. Bakri bin Matouk Asas has commended the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince for their significant support for education in general, and higher education in particular. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Asas said that the Saudi Government has provided unlimited support and allocated for higher education billions of riyals in the State's public budgets every year, noting that this support reflects the deep insight and ambitious vision of the wise leadership to upgrade university education to the ranks of distinction in scientific and research fields. He indicated that the University of Umm Al-Qura has enjoyed like other universities in the Kingdom a great support from the Government which has spent so far SR 16 billion for its establishment, pointing to a number of projects being implemented in the University including buildings and equipment for scientific colleges and centers.
