Egypt said Sunday it had cancelled a long-term deal to supply natural gas to Israel due to violations of contractual obligations. "The contract with the East Mediterranean Gas (EMG) has been terminated due to the company's contractual failures," said Mohammed Shoaib, the head of Egypt's Natural Gas Holding Company. The decision was described by Hani Dahi, the chairman of the state-run Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, as purely commercial, according to the semi-official newspaper Al-Ahram.
