Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt Wednesday named Karin Enstrom - an officer in the Amphibious Corps and member of parliament - as defence minister, according to dpa. "I have long experience of defence and foreign policy and security issues," Enstrom told Swedish Television news. Enstrom, 46, has been a member of parliament for Reinfeldt's conservative Moderate Party since 1998, and since 2010 has been head of the Foreign Affairs Committee. She is also captain in the Amphibious Corps, the coastal defence arm of the navy.
