Malaysia on Wednesday installed its 14th King in a pomp-filled ceremony steeped in the centuries-old royal tradition of the South-East Asian country. The installation ceremony of Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah, 84, was held for the first time in the newly built Istana Negara palace in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur. It was the second time Tuanku Abdul Halim, ruler of the northern state of Kedah, was installed as a King under a five-year rotation system among the rulers of nine Malay states. He was first crowned in 1970. The enthronement was witnessed by nearly 1,000 guests, including government officials, royalty from other Malaysian states and foreign diplomats, according to a report of DPA.
