A search was under way Thursday for a Hong Kong-registered cargo vessel with 17 Chinese and Indonesian crew members which has gone missing off the coast of Japan, according to dpa. The New Lucky VII had not been in contact with its company for two days, according to Hong Kong government radio station RTHK. The report said the Japanese coastguard had sent several patrol vessels and mounted an air search for the 4,143-tonne freighter which was sailing from Papua New Guinea to mainland China.
