U.S. stocks were mixed Tuesday in afternoon trading after a closely-watched index showed home prices still falling in January, UPI reported. The Standard & Poor's Case-Shiller home-price indexes showed home prices lower in January compared to December in 16 of 20 housing markets tracked in the report. After strong gains Monday, the Dow Jones industrial average shed 14.34 points or 0.11 percent to 13,227.29. The Standard & Poor's 500 index lost 0.55 points or 0.04 percent to 1,415.96. The Nasdaq composite index added 6.82 points or 0.22 percent to 3,129.39. The 10-year benchmark treasury note rose 16/32 to yield 2.195 percent. The euro fell $1.331 from Monday's $1.3358. Against the yen, the dollar rose to 83.14 yen from Monday's 82.82 yen. In Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 index gained 2.36 percent, 236.91, to 10,255.15. In London, the FTSE 100 index lost 0.56 percent, 33.15, to 5,869.55.
