Altaisk, Rabi'II 28, 1433, Mar 21, 2012, SPA -- A moderate quake measuring 4.0 on the Richter scale was fixed on Wednesday in Russia's republic of Tuva, the Altai division of the geographical service of the Russian Academy of Sciences' Siberian branch reported. Two strong quakes have hit Tuva over the recent months. The first one, measuring 6.7, occurred on December 27, 2011, 100 kilometers east of Kyzyl, at the depth of ten kilometers. The epicenter of another quake, measuring 6.0 to 7.0 on the Richter scale, was approximately at the same site. The quake was registered on February 26, Itar-Tass reported. Over 1,000 houses were damaged in the first quake. Ten houses and 75 apartments, as well as two thermal power stations, 17 boiler-houses and 73 educational, healthcare and cultural facilities were beyond repair. The number of damaged buildings increased in the February quake, and their examination is still in progress.
