The White House on Tuesday condemned attacks in Iraq that killed at least 45 people and said they were a blatant effort by extremists to undermine progress by the Iraqi people. "We strongly condemn the attacks on innocent civilians in Iraq," spokesman Jay Carney told reporters, but he noted that violence was at recent lows and that Iraqi forces were capable of maintaining overall security.
