U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged North Korea Friday to reconsider its plan to launch a satellite next month. North Korea announced Friday that it will use a long range missile to launch the satellite, just weeks after agreeing with the United States to suspend long-range missile tests in return for 240,000 metric tons of emergency food supplies. "The Secretary-General is seriously concerned by the announcement of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) today, March 16, to launch a so-called 'application satellite' next month," a statement from Ban's office said. "The Secretary-General reiterates his call on the DPRK to fully comply with the relevant resolutions of the Security Council, particularly including the resolution 1874,"the statement said. That resolution, passed in 2009, bans the launching of any long-range missiles.
