A helicopter belonging to foreign forces operating in Afghanistan crashed Friday in Kabul, dpa quoted officials as saying. At least five people were feared dead. "The cause of the accident is not known," said Captain Justin Brockhoff, a spokesman with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). "There was no record of insurgent activity at the time of the incident. He could not confirm any casualties, but an Afghan official said at least five people were killed. "It seems there were five personnel with the Turkish forces in the helicopter, all of whom died," he said, adding the accident was "due to mechanical failure and not an insurgent incident." Local media reported two Afghan civilians were also killed because the helicopter crashed into a house. The Afghan official could not confirm the civilian fatalities. Brockhoff said the scene of the accident had been secured and rescue workers dispatched.
