Prince Saud Al-Faisal delivers speech 3 Cairo
Published in Saudi Press Agency on 10 - 03 - 2012

Faisal said the situation in Syria have reached limits "requiring us to act quickly and seriously in a way that gives the Syrian people a glimmer of hope for the possibility of ending their cruel and growing ordeal day by day. "
Prince Saud Al-Faisal said, "We must not continue making hollow decisions or feeble positions in the context of our approach to this humanitarian disaster as there is an Arab initiative for the solution which is still there waiting for application..."
Prince Saud Al-Faisal said, "We see in the presence of Mr. Sergei Lavrov an indication of the Russian Federation's care for the situation in Syria and we welcome him now in our meeting, however, we wish that this interest be translated in a way that is reminiscent of the Russian Federation's positions supportive of Arab causes that have always been appreciated by our people. We do not see a way for this except by supporting the decisions of the Arab League's council for dealing with the situation in Syria. It is well known that the most important elements of the position of the Arab League is the immediate cessation of all acts of violence and genocide practiced by the Syrian regime against its own people and the emphasis of the necessity of complying with the application of all actions and measures contained in the decision of the Arab League Council at its extraordinary session on 12/02/2012 in addition to the importance of opening communication channels with all representatives of the Syrian opposition and provision of all means of support that will enable the opposition to deal with their situations."
Prince Saud Al-Faisal said, "It is also important to ensure the delivery of urgent humanitarian assistance to the beneficiaries as well as inviting all international humanitarian agencies and organizations to contribute to this matter."
Prince Saud Al-Faisal said, "The parties that are still taking positions which would hinder any Arab or international move will bear the moral and humanitarian responsibility for what can happen in Syria if they continue their positions that are feeble and oblivious to the security and interests of the Syrian people."
