Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said he plans to call a by-election for a recently vacated parliament seat, but he declined to say when the vote would take place, according to AP. Lee told Parliament on Friday that he would call a by-election to fill the seat vacated by opposition Workers' Party member Yaw Shin Leong. Lee previously said he was deciding whether or not to call a vote. Yaw resigned his seat and was expelled out of the Workers Party last month for refusing to explain what the party called personal indiscretions. Singapore has not held a by-election since 1992. The ruling People's Action Party controls 81 of 87 seats, but its percentage of the vote during general elections in May fell to its lowest since independence in 1965.
