A female suicide bomber killed five police officers and injured two others in Russia's restive Caucasus region, the Interfax news agency reported Wednesday. The Tuesday night attack took place in the Dagestan province village Karabudakhent, some 960 kilometres to the south of the Russian capital Moscow. Police identified the woman as Amiat Ibragimova, widow of insurgent combatant Zaur Zagidov, said a Dagestan police spokesman. Ibragimova detonated a concealed bomb containing the equivalent of two kilogrammes of plastic explosives after approaching a police road checkpoint, the RIA Novosti news agency reported. Zagidov along with four other alleged insurgents died in a gun battle with Russian army units in February.
