Minister of Economy and Planning Dr. Mohammed bin Suleiman Al-Jasser has hailed the announcement of establishing the city of "Wa'ad (Promise) Alshamal (North) for Mining Industries" in the northern region as a new distinguished initiative from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for this beloved country constituting a quantum leap on the path of diversifying the economic base in the Kingdom and promoting its closer affiliation with the global industrial era. He explained that this step comes within the framework of this state's great interest in developing investment in all parts of the country. Dr. Al-Jasser said, "The giant transformations and achievements taking place in the industrial sector in the Kingdom is a logical outcome of the planning process, the preparation of strategies and clear objectives which seek to raise the added value of national products. "The announcement of the decision to establish this city in the north comes amid prominent economic developments taking place in the Kingdom in all areas," he added. The Minister also stressed the strength, stability and growth of the national economy transforming it to become the most growing economy in the region and making Saudi Arabia an active member of the Group of Twenty.
