Switzerland Foreign Minister Didier Burkhalter said today his Ministry decided to close its embassy in Damascus. In a statement, he explained that since last August, Switzerland has withdrawn its ambassador from Damascus but the embassy remained open to look after Swiss citizens stationed in Syria, noting that the Ministry has advised them to leave Syria as soon as possible. He expressed deep concern and regent for the continuation of violence in Syria and the increase in number of the victims of oppression there.
