The United States is considering providing humanitarian aid to the Syrian people as Washington increases pressure on the government of Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad, the White House said Tuesday. “We are exploring the possibility of providing humanitarian aid to Syrians,” spokesman Jay Carney told reporters, without elaborating. “We are going to continue to work with international allies … to put the pressure required,” Carney said. He reiterated that the Obama administration was not considering providing weapons to anti-government forces seeking to oust (Bashar) Al-Assad.
