Prince Charles, Heir Apparent to the British Throne and Prince of Wales, opened here last night the exhibition of "Hajj: Journey to the Heart of Islam" in the British Museum in London. At the opening ceremony, Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Member of the Board of Directors of King Abdulaziz Public Library, delivered a speech in which he highlighted the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to serve the pilgrims. He said "In 1925, the area of the Grand Mosque did not exceed 30,000 sqm accommodating 100,000 pilgrims. After the expansion of the Grand Mosque during the reign of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, the area of the Grand Mosque exceeded one million sqm accommodating more than three million pilgrims." The projects conducted during the reign of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz included the construction of three sites with 12 floors for throwing stones, accommodating five million pilgrims; the establishment of Makkah Watch which is the largest and highest watch in the world; the operation of Holy Sites Train to transport more than two million pilgrims; and the establishment of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Project for Zamzam Water which ensures the purity of Zamzam water, automatically packaging Zamzam water and distribute millions of liters to the pilgrims," Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah said. "The efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia aim at bringing peace to the whole world through the initiatives of the man of peace, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, and his humanitarian projects that aim at the service of Hajj and the development of the holy sites in Makkah", Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah added. --More
