The General Secretariat of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has decided to respond positively to the decision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on withdrawing their monitors from Arab League Mission to Syria. A statement issued today by the Secretariat pointed out that the decision was made after close and careful monitoring of the events at the Syrian arena, and being ascertained of the continuation of bloodshed, killing of innocent people, and non-commitment of the Syrian regime to the implementation of the resolutions of Arab League Council, particularly the protocol signed by Syria and the General Secretariat of Arab League, stressing at the same time the GCC states' commitment to all resolutions of Arab League Council and the resolution issued on 22-1-2012 to preserve the unity of Arab ranks, despite their conviction of the necessity that the last resolution shall be stronger and a factor to pressure the Syrian regime to stop killing Syrian people. The statement called on Arab brothers to abide by the implementation of the resolutions of Arab League Council with seriousness and credibility to pressure Syria to commit in deeds not in words to what it has promised. It also called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities, including brothers in Islamic countries and friends in Russia, China, France, Britain and the United States of America and Member States of UN Security Council and to take all necessary measures in the Security Council to pressure Syria to implement the resolutions of Arab League Council and Arab initiative on Syria.
