Austrian Airlines failed to turn its 2011 numbers black last year, with 2011's operating loss equal to the 65-million-euro (83-million-dollar) loss it suffered in 2010, dpa cited the Lufthansa subsidiary as reporting Tuesday. The news belied the airline's much heralded plans to turn its numbers around for the year. Austrian Airlines chief executive Jaan Albrecht announced savings package, including reductions in personnel costs and airport fees of up to 220 million euros for the current year, Austrian press agency APA reported. In addition, the carrier plans to harmonize its fleet by selling its Boeing aircraft and replacing them with Airbus models.
