The Ministry of Health has approved 67 projects in its new 2012 budget worth SR7 billion, as part of its comprehensive healthcare strategy, said Dr. Khalid Al-Marghalani, the ministry's spokesman, on Monday. He said the ministry will build 12 new hospitals with 3,100 beds, in addition to clinics, oncology centers, dentistry centers and housing for hospital staff. “These new hospitals will be built in several regions of the Kingdom based on need.” Fifteen clinics will be built in Riyadh, an oncology center in Madinah and a forensic medicine center in Jizan. In addition, 262 hospitals will be supplied with emergency power generators and will have all their intensive care and emergency units improved, he added. --MORE
