Saudi Ambassador to Japan, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Abdulsattar Turkistani affirmed today that the visit of Japan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Koichiro Gemba to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which began yesterday, comes in the context of strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), he said that Saudi exports to Japan in 2010 amounted to approximately SR 136 billion including among others petroleum and petrochemical products. Ambassador Dr. Turkistani noted that Japan occupies the first rank on the list of top ten countries of Saudi exports for more than five years and Saudi Arabia occupies the first rank in terms of the volume of Saudi oil exports to Japan, which account for more than 30% of the total Japanese oil imports. He disclosed that 400 male and female students are now studying in various scientific disciplines in Japan.
