At least 26 people have died in a cold spell sweeping across India's northern state of Uttar Pradesh as dense fog disrupted rail and air services in the region, a news report said Monday. Fifteen people had died over the weekend after the first deaths due to the cold conditions that were reported last week. Meerut city was the coldest in the state, recording a low of 2.2 degrees Celsius, the NDTV network reported. National capital New Delhi and northern states like Punjab and Haryana were also reeling under the cold wave. Indian Railways said as many as 40 trains were delayed while 14 flights from New Delhi were also delayed, the report said.
