The death toll from devastating floods and landslides triggered by a tropical storm in the Philippines hit 436 Saturday, with 162 still missing, dpa quoted the Red Cross as saying. The southern city of Cagayan de Oro City suffered the most deaths, 215, while 144 people were killed in nearby Iligan City, said Gwen Pang, secretary general of the Philippine National Red Cross. Pang said the death toll was based on figures from funeral parlors. The Red Cross also recorded 47 people killed in the southern province of Bukidnon, 21 on the central island of Negros, and eight from the southern provinces of Compostella Valley, Zamboanga del Norte and Surigao del Sur.
