Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will raise the Palestinian flag at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on Tuesday in ceremonies ushering in Palestine as full member of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, said his political advisor Nimr Hammad. UNESCO voted on October 31 to admit Palestine as full member, the first for a UN agency. Hammad told Voice of Palestine radio that Abbas will meet French President Nicolas Sarkozy to discuss Israeli government measures jeopardizing peace and the (Mideast) Quartet's position. Abbas starts Monday a tour that will include Belgium, France and Turkey, said Hammad. He said that the Abbas will meet Turkish and Belgium presidents and call on them to guarantee that Israel will not withhold Palestinian tax-money in the future.
