The United Nations has condemned the attack early Friday morning on U.N. peacekeepers patrolling in South Lebanon. Five French peacekeepers were injured when a roadside bomb exploded as they were travelling in a convoy in the city of Tyre. "The Secretary-General strongly condemns this morning's attack against a UNIFIL vehicle near the town of Tyre, inside UNIFIL's area of operations. The attack injured five UNIFIL military personnel," the U.N. Secretary-General's spokesman, Martin Nesirky, told reporters. "The Secretary-General expects that the perpetrators will be swiftly identified and brought to justice," Nesirky added. Nesirky called the attack, the third on U.N. peacekeepers since May, "deeply disturbing."
