US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner began meeting with French officials Wednesday, on the second leg of a European tour to press for a resolution this week of the eurozone debt crisis, DPA reported. Geithner met Finance Minister Francois Baroin at his Paris office. He was scheduled to meet later with President Nicolas Sarkozy, then travel to Marseille to meet Spanish prime minister-elect Mariano Rajoy. He arrived in Paris Tuesday from Berlin, where he emphasized "how important it is to the United States and to the world economy as a whole that Germany and France succeed alongside the other nations of Europe in building a stronger Europe."
