Police say Maoist rebels have killed 11 people in attacks across an eastern Indian state after their leader died in a gun battle with security forces. Police Superintendent D.V. Sharma says the rebels blew up railway tracks at two points in Jharkhand early Sunday to protest the Nov. 24 killing of Koteshwar Rao, alias Kishanji. He says they also attacked a police convoy traveling with a state lawmaker in western Jharkhand late Saturday, detonating explosives that killed nine officers and spraying gunfire that left two civilians dead, according to a report of the Associated Press.
