A 5.3-magnitude quake struck early Wednesday north of Manila in Pangasinan province, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said. The earthquake at 8:26 am was felt in Metro Manila. Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum said the epicentre of the earthquake was in the West Philippine Sea (South China Sea), located 140 kilometers southwest of Agno, Pangasinan. An intensity 2 earthquake was felt in Quezon City, Mandaluyong, Manila and Obando, Bulacan. Solidum was quoted as saying by DPA that after-shocks were expected as a result of the movement of the Manila Trench.
