British Foreign Secretary William Hague has welcomed sanctions slapped on Syria by the Arab League in an effort to put an end to the crisis in Syria. In a press statement issued here yesterday, Hague described as 'unprecedented" the resolution adopted by the Arab League to impose sanctions on Syria and said it also confirmed the repeated failure of the Syrian regime to fulfilling promises that will not be ignored, and that those who commit such violations will be held accountable. The British Foreign Secretary reiterated his country's support for the efforts of the Arab League to restore peace in Syria. He also stressed that the United Nations cannot continue its silence about the events in Syria.
