Majlis Al-Shura expressed regret for the incidents that took place in Qatif in the Eastern Region, resulting in deaths and injuries among citizens and security men. This came during the 63rd ordinary session of Majlis Al-Shura presided over by its speaker Sheikh Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh. In a statement read by Dr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, Majlis Al-Shura Secretary General, the "Majlis expresses its deep regret for this criminal act which is a clear violation of all regulations in our country," Majlis Al-Shura lauded the wisdom of the security men in dealing with those events in order to preserve the innocents, maintaining security, and eliminating such strife which only serves the enemies of this country. The statement added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and the Crown Prince Naif bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior, has preserved to maintain the optimal relationship with its citizens in different regions, sponsoring the security, supporting for the needy and opening doors for the citizens. "Majlis Al-Shura confirms its support for all actions taken by the leadership to prevent such events and other similar terrorist acts in any region of ??our country.", the statement said. Majlis Al-Shura also stresses the need to bring the offenders to the competent courts to be punished for their disgraceful actions.
