AlHijjah 29, 1432, Nov 25, 2011, SPA -- A storm and floods in Sri Lanka left at least 12 people dead, local officials said on Friday. According to dpa, gale-force winds also injured 50 people and damaged over 1,000 houses in the southern districts of Galle and Matara, where eight fishermen were killed. Several fishermen are missing and bad weather has prevented rescue vessels from launching a rescue mission, the officials said. Some 1,000 families have been displaced by the storm and many areas remain without electricity. Floods in the north of the country left four people dead.
