AlHijjah 29, 1432, Nov 25, 2011, SPA -- The UN educational and scientific body UNESCO on Friday added 11 practices and expressions to its list of intangible cultural heritage, dpa reported. A UNESCO intergovernmental committee designated the 11 items as intangible heritage in need of urgent safeguarding during a meeting on the Indonesian resort island of Bali that started Tuesday. They include the Yimakan, the oral histories of Hezhen in China; Yaokwa, the ritual of the people Enawene Nawe in Brazil to maintain the social and cosmic order; and the Saman dance from the Indonesian province of Aceh. The other additions are from Iran, Mauritania, Mongolia, Vietnam, Mali, the United Arab Emirates and Peru. Eighty items were nominated for inclusion at the meeting, which was due to end Tuesday. -- SPA
