AlHijjah 28, 1432, Nov 24, 2011, SPA -- Leaders of Fatah and Hamas met for the first time in six months and hailed progress toward ending a rift that has led to separate governments in the West Bank and Gaza. In remarks to reporters following the meeting, brokered and sponsored by Egypt in Cairo today, Mahmoud Abbas, President of Palestine, said he discussed with Khalid Mishaal, the Head of HAMAS Political Bureau, important matters, topped by efforts for Palestinian reconciliation. He added that no differences came up during the talks. He said the two sides are dealing as partners who share responsibility towards the Palestinian issue. For his part, Mishaal reassured Palestinian people inside and outside the territories that a new, big and real page was opened.
