AlHijjah 28, 1432, Nov 24, 2011, SPA -- A spokesman for Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai said he has nominated a new central bank governor, AP reported. Spokesman Hamid Elmi said Thursday that Noorullah Delawari has been nominated to head the central bank and that the appointment will be sent to parliament for approval. He did not say when parliament will discuss the appointment. Delawari, a former governor of the bank, sits on its board. He replaces Abdul Qadir Fitrat, who fled to northern Virginia in late June after claiming to have received threats to his life in connection with mismanagement at the private Kabul Bank.
