AlHijjah 26, 1432, Nov 22, 2011, SPA -- Retail sales in Canada rose to $38.2 billion in September, a 1 percent month-over-month gain and the fifth increase in six months, UPI quoted Statistics Canada as reporting. The sector of motor vehicle and parts dealers reported the highest gain of the 11 sectors, up 2.8 percent in September. Within the sector, new car retail sales were up 3.7 percent, while used car sales rose 3.5 percent, the agency said. "Sales at clothing and clothing accessories stores rose 1 percent, more than offsetting the decline in August," StatsCan said. "Sales at this store type have been trending upwards for the past two years." Regionally, retail sales were up in all 10 provinces in September, led by Alberta and Ontario, the report said.
