AlHijjah 23, 1432, Nov 19, 2011, SPA - Two Afghan policemen were killed and three injured in a "misunderstanding" with NATO troops, officials said Saturday. Foreign soldiers shot them at a checkpoint in eastern province of Ghazni due to "lack of coordination on the local level" during an operation late Friday, an official with the Interior Ministry said on condition of anonymity. The International Security Assistance Force said two people were killed and three injured after the coalition troops were fired upon at the checkpoint. "After multiple attempts to identify themselves as friendly forces, the security force was unable to stop the threat and engaged the checkpoint in self-defense, killing two individuals," a coalition statement was quoted as saying by the German Press Agency "DPA".
