AlHijjah 23, 1432, Nov 19, 2011, SPA -- The Arab Group in Vienna has affirmed that Israel is still continuing to defy the international community through its continual refusal to accede to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), and place all its nuclear facilities under comprehensive safeguards agreement of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The Head of the current session of the Council of Arab ambassadors in Vienna ambassador of Kuwait Mohammad Saad Al-Salal said in a speech before the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that "the concern of the Arab states over the Israeli nuclear danger is reinforced by continued aggressive policies and practices of Israel towards the Arab states in a manner that threatens peace and security in the region." He noted that while all Arab countries joined the NPT and expressed their full readiness to take practical steps towards the establishment of a zone free of nuclear weapons in the Middle East, Israel still continues to defy the international community by continuing to refuse to accede to the NPT and place all its nuclear facilities under the comprehensive safeguards agreement of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Al-Salal said that the Arab Group expresses regret that some influential member states, including nuclear states, have been constantly defending the principle of universality of the NPT and still continues to turn a blind eye to this principle when it comes to Israel's nuclear capabilities confirming double standards dealing with this issue.
